If you happen to encounter an emergency along the trail, you should attempt to contact the
sheriff's office for whatever county you happen to be in.
Take note of the mile marker signs as you ride, so you can accurately describe the location of any problem.
Emergency vehicles are able to travel on the trail, but they need to know where to find you.
It's a good idea to carry a cell phone in case of emergencies, but be aware that cell phone coverage is spotty along the trail.
There are many sections of the trail where you will not be able to get a signal for several miles at a time.
In most areas you should also be able to call 911 for emergency help, in addition to the sheriff's numbers listed at the right.
