We eat at Abigails everytime we drive across the state or go down the trail. Heck, we even wait to leave home so we will pass Rocheport when they are open. Abigails isn't just a cafe - it is a first class restaurant. The food isn't pre-prepared. If you pay attention you will see a chef at work in the ktichen. If you're looking for a quick meal, you're really missing the point. The couple who own and run the place seem like good people to me, maybe just overworked and under appreciated. The food is ALWAYS excellent. I go to Rocheport, as I said, just for Abigails.

Subject:  Going Green at Rocheport's Katy Boxcar
Started: Mar 24 2009 1:14PM by Brett Dufur , Rocheport
Who would have thought that a 70-year-old boxcar would ever be the recipient of a "green" renovation! As we restore the Katy Boxcar into the Katy Boxcar Guesthouse at the Katy Trail B&B, we're making it as eco-friendly as possible. One day we're working with blow in cellulose insulation and paperless sheet rock, the next we're uncovering the original 2 inch thick walnut flooring and working with locally sourced materials. Last week I was dismantling a 65-year-old greenhouse in St. Louis in 35 degree weather to reuse the cypress tongue and groove decking, which will become the new, weather-tight exterior walls on the boxcar... What a journey... It's not every day you get to bring a boxcar back to life! Going green makes sense, and it will also ensure that your stay is as comfortable as can be. So if you pass by the Katy Trail B&B in Rochep... View Full Comment

We ate lunch at Abigail's during our Katy Trail ride in October of 2009. We liked it very much. I have a hard time understanding the negative comments by some who have posted. It is a delightful restaurant and, as a small business owner myself, I was impressed with the organization and unique menu presentation. This is not Burger King (thank goodness!). Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant - at any time and of any kind - should appreciate the effort put forth to make this a wonderful experience, from the ambiance to the selection, and to the service. Nice.

Our stay at the Schoolhouse B&B was wonderful. It's accommodations are
really lovely and comfortable! It and Rocheport would make for a
wonderful couples get away all by themselves.
