Another route suggestion for bikes from STL airport to St. Charles Katy Trail, and pretty frugal - but must be done Monday through Fri during working days hours. Take the STL Metrolink from STL airport
to North Hanley Station, you can travel with bike. At North Hanley
Station, catch the St. Charles Area Transit (SCAT)bus for 50 cents. It has a bike rack on it that will accomodate 3 bikes. SCAT will take you directly to Main St. in St. Charles - there's a drop at Amistar Casino. which is 1 blk away from the Katy Trail. PLEASE LOBBY ST. CHARLES CITY GOVERNMENT TO EXTEND THE HOURS OF THIS BUS!!
Let them know it is vital for your tourism dollars!!!!

Could take Metrolink all the way from St. Louis Amtrak station if you
are using Amtrak for your trip shuttle (at least that is what I am
thinking). I think those SCAT busses only run mornings and late
afternoons to serve commuters.

Longer, but all on bike: Take Lambert Int'l Blvd east to Air Cargo Road to McDonnell Blvd; east on Airport Road, north on Hanley/Graham; west on Charbonnier/Aubuchon/Missouri Bottom; which joins the MRT, going over the Missouri River on Rte 370 (dedicated bike trail is reached by taking a right on side road just prior to reaching 370 and dumps you alongside the KATY in north St. Charles).
