Is long term parking (4 days) allowed at Kirkwood train station?

I asked the Kirkwood police about this - they said that Amtrak will issue a permit that you place on your dashboard. As long as this permit is visible, you have permission for overnight parking near the station. Amtrak should be able to provide all the details.

Kirkwood police: 314-822-5858

Amtrak: 1-800-USA-RAIL

The Kirkwood Station is not staffed by Amtrak employees but volunteers thru the day, also the old Target Store across from the station which had plenty of parking is gone replaced by new condos and retail area so parking is very limited now July 2005, but police station is directly south of Amtrak station

This is just a thought but if you stay at a Motel for even a night they will ususally allow you
to park your car in their lot for a reasonable length of time. We have left our car in a motel
parking lot up to a week and just stayed there for one night.

There are volunteers at the AMTRAK station everyday, an hour before each of the passenger trains arrive (8:30AM, 12:30PM, 4:30PM, 8:30PM) - they tend to be there most of the day on weekends, especially summer to fall when the farmer's market is open. The parking permits are for the AMTRAK parking lot(specifically for train passengers, although the volunteers usually don't ask for proof of a ticket) and overflow is directed to other parking lots. Permits are free and the volunteer will enter your return date. Have never heard of a limit and I've used them for over a week long trips.

Has anyone parked here recently? I realized this thread is old, but was wondering if the same system is in place. I'm planning a trip in September using Amtrak and hoping to park nearby. Amtrak page mentions station agent for permit at nearby department store.

According to Amtrak's website (select stations, then midwest) there are 40 Long-term Parking Spaces at Kirkwood.

I don't have any experience with KWD, but I've left my car at various stations in IL and IA for a month at a time with no problem
