My friend and I are biking the Katy (Clinton to St. Charles) in a couple of weeks. We planned to stay in Jefferson City enroute. When I googled Rochefort by bike to our hotel in Jefferson City, google maps didn't let me cross the bridge over the river. Also Mapmyride couldn't get me across either. I really don't want to ride the extra miles to Holts Summit for a room. Is there anyone who can assure me that we can cross the bridge on our bikes.

I live in Jefferson City and I can assure you that you can bike safely over the pedestrian/bike path that is attached to the Missouri River Bridge. The reason google maps etc is messed up is because they are doing bridge work and have closed half of the bridge and redirected all vehicle traffic on the other half. In my opinion it is safer to bike over the pedestrian/bike path than it is to drive over the bridge. The pedestrian/bike path has been unaffected by this bridge work. When you get to the N. Jefferson Trailhead look for the signs pointing you to Downtown Jefferson City. You'll take that spur to get to the ramp to the pedestrian/bike path on the south side of the river. The spur takes you to a park. Then follow the bike path painted on the street, and it will lead you to the pedestrian/bike path ramp. I was on it yesterday, and it is safe.

Biking across the river to Jeff City is to me always one of the highlights of a Katy Trail trip. You can definitely get there on bike. From the North Jefferson trailhead, you'll follow signs and street markings to a very cool ramp system that takes you up to bridge level. Then you are on a completely separate bike and pedestrian part of the bridge - totally away from car traffic.

You'll love the Jeff City bridge experience

Just did it last week. And as some comments have noted, it is one of the little treats of the Katy Trail ride.
I stayed in N. Jeff at the CLIFF MANOR INN; which I highly recommend.
The spur trail is well marked and a safe ride to the pedestrian ramp at the Mo River Bridge. The ramp up to the top bridge level is a (long) spiral ramp. I climbed it on the bike with a trailer with relative ease.
Go for it.
