Katy Trail Rock Island Spur Comments
RV camping

Planning on riding in May with RV for support. Any ideas on overnight parking? Starting from Clinton.

The trip planner has plenty of ideas.

Kathleen, you will have to check out each of these because I am not an RVer, but here are some suggestions:

Clinton to Sedalia -- stay at Chaplin RV

Sedalia to New Franklin -- stay at Katy Roundhouse

New Franklin to Easley -- stay at Coopers Landing (it's the most "social" of the sites!)

Easley to Portland -- stay at Rivers Edge RV Park

That's as far as I know about RV sites right on the trail. Would anyone else like to chime in for sites on the Eastern end?

There's also Sundermeier's in St Charles. They're not listed on this website because they ONLY allow RVs (no tents).

In Sedalia the fairgrounds, very inexpensive. Some are pull through any size works here, all services
Definitely New Franklin (close to Boonville) KATY Roundhouse, nice place, pull through sites. All services
Blufton, Steamboat Springs, wouldn't be good for large RV has water and electric, pull through
City park in Herman. Great town to explore. Mostly not pull through but pretty easy backing. I have seen 40 foot class A in here.
Portland has a campground but if it's a large RV, maneuvering may be a problem.
Sundmeyers nice place pretty upscale. Pull through.. St Charles nice to explore good places to eat.
There may be a place between Herman and St. Charles but I don't know it.
Have a great trip.

In Sedalia Chaplin RV is pretty dismal. I tent camped there last May after riding the evening train into Sedailia. Next time I'll go to the state fairgrounds.

check out the diary of our journey from Fall '16. Traveling with RV was a little more complicated than expected, but great. Sorry didn't see this post sooner have been out of town with little cell signal for over a month.

We had shuttling of trailer and truck done by ShowMeMO Tours, excellent and took last minute changes in stride. They are a very knowledgable and competent husband and wife team. We used Cotton from Boonville for shuttles on middle part of the trail when we stayed at Steamboat Junction for three nights. Cotton works out of Boonville. Everyone knows him and he is a one-of-a-kind, no one else like him. You'll be glad you got to meet him.
