Katy Trail Rock Island Spur Comments
Two days three nights and shuttle?

Anyone have a suggestion for a couple of folks wanting to see the best Katy has to offer for two days of riding and three nights B&B s, or Cabins? We would do 20-40 miles a day but we would like to lotter at a brewery or winery from time to time. We don't want to get in a hurry, just out for a good ride, and an enjoyable time maybe visiting some historic places. Would need a shuttle of us and equipment to our starting place. Would like to ride back to our car. Thanks, David.

More than a few people have found it fun to stay in Windsor a couple nights and you have three directions to take day rides - Clinton and Sedalia on the Katy and also out the new Rock Island Spur maybe as far as Chilhowee for lunch. I have Kim's Cabins if I can help you. Thanks - Kim

I would look at St Charles to Augusta on day 1 then Augusta to Herman on day two. Lots of lodging options and wineries on that section.

I would stay at the Bluffton Barn and ride one day west along the bluffs and river bottom and one day into Hermann (25 miles round trip) for sight seeing wineries microbrew etc. Won't have to haul gear with you that way and makes for easy logistics.

My thought on ending in Augusta and Herman is both places would let you relax after the day’s ride and visit their wineries and micro breweries. Also plenty of dining options for supper.

That’s Bluffton Barn, and you will find it in Bluffton.

I’ll second staying in Windsor at Kim’s Cabins. Nice easy ride to/from Clinton for one day and to/from Sedalia on another day. We just did all that last week and had a blast. BTW Kim is a great host and has a great place to stay.

The best of the Katy is more near the Augusta/Hermann area than Windsor if you want to visit a winery or two.

I second the Augusta to Hermann idea for history and for food and wine and beer. The Augusta Brewery is right on the trail and made a great stop for good sandwiches and craft beer! There's also a newer winery with food right off the trial in Defiance. There's a winery near Marthasville near Daniel Boone's grave too. Just check the hours since some places are only open a few days a week even in the summer. St. Charles has a lot of history and restaurants, but even there in June a lot of places were closed on Sunday.
