Were planing on doing the trail in late sept. and want to go west to east leaving our car in st charles what is the best and cheapest way to get to clinton. Also what type of weather should we expect for the last 2 weeks of september?

I like Amtrak.

You can park at the trailhead in St. Charles, ride or shuttle yourself and your bike to Kirkwood Amtrak station. Then ride the train to Sedalia. Many people find Sedalia a good starting point. If you feel you must go to the very beginning it is only about 30 miles away by trail. You may be able to arrange a shuttle.

You can find camping in many towns along the trail and motels/BBs are priced reasonable. Just be sure to do your research.

The Plan a Ride feature above is a great tool.

As far as the weather, I think late Sept is a perfect time but the weather in MO can be crazy so prepare for anything.

This is a reply to cheapest way to get from St. Charles to Clinton; We provide services from St. Charles to Clinton & Clinton to St, Charles. You can park your vehicle by the trail in St. Charles, & nthen ride the trail, call us & we can pick you or your group up & then take you to St. Charles to where your car is parked.
