Harbor Haus Inn & Suites in Hermann

Great place to stay while biking on the Katy Trail! The room was clean and comfortable and Frank and his staff were a pleasure to chat with during our stay. A very nice hot breakfast was provided in the morning that included all of the essentials. We locked our bikes outside of the building and had no concerns or problems. This has to be the best lodging bargain in Hermann and is right downtown and close to many walkable dinner and drink options.
We'll return!

I would not stay there if you are biking. After checking in we took our bikes to our room like we'd done every night of our trip. Within a minute we were greeted with a knock on the door. We were told we couldn't keep our bikes in the room. When I asked why, I was told that was the rule. They made us keep the bikes behind the building. Luckily they were still there the next morning....Rooms were small and dated and breakfast was average. I'm sure there are better options.

I'd rather stay in a room that had bikes in it the night before, than one that had pets in it.

As always though, check before your stay so you know what the rules are. It's best not to assume that you can bring your pet, smoke, put your bike in the room, etc. Otherwise, you've just set yourself up for disappointment because you couldn't do what ya wanted in their space.

Do not recommend staying in #8. It is next to the highway/street & therefore very noisy. King bed was not the best either. Breakfast starts at 8am which does not work well for cyclists who want to start early. No remodeling has been done to this room for years. There isn't even a plug-in in the bathroom. A grocery store is very close along with a nice ice cream store.

The folks at the Harbor Haus know how to treat their guests! We stayed in the River Loft on 5/30/09 and loved it. First of all, the location is great for bicyclists. Its just at the foot of the bridge and is a welcome site after pedaling up the grade of the bridge. (By the way biking over from the Katy Trail was pretty easy)After a long ride and dinner, sitting by their outdoor fire--complete with marshmellows and sticks for roasting--was the perfect ending to the evening. Sunday after check-out they allowed us to store our bags and even loaned us towels to use at the City pool. Can't wait to revisit them.

Have stayed there 3 times now.

When I am riding the KATY trail, I enjoy the room, ate lots of breakfast without guilt, and had great conversation.

Frank has also been very responsive when I rolled in on my recumbent late at night.

I agree, Frank's helpful generosity reminds me of the Missouri country I grew up in.

Oak Glen was great the first weekend! Frank and his place is exactly what Hermann is all about....fine place and great people. See you next year Frank!

"Walmart" Harbor Haus Inn & Suites is a very old motel, not a Bed and Breakfast in the real sense. If you are looking for a gourmet breakfast, skip this one. Juice, powder coffee, and a couple items....that's it.
