Rode the RIT-Katy Spur from Pleasant Hill to Windsor and stayed in a cabin at Kim's, then proceeded onto the Katy Trail. Great place to stay!
Kim was nice. Interesting to talk with her, because she has a lot of knowledge about Windsor and the recent history of the Katy and the RIT and efforts to extent the RIT.

Does Kim's also have camping availble? We have friends who camp and friends who need a cabin! Or, any other suggestions would be helpful. The one in Defiance does, but we want something further west.

Hey Kim! You really need to get a phone!

Clinton from Clinton on 05/13/2024 11:03 PM:
Kim and her cabins are as good as it gets, but I don’t think she has camping. Katy-Rock Junction is within sight and shouting distance of Kim’s Cabins and is a tent camping delight with a super clean bath house and lots of little extras. Cabin at Kim’s and camp at Katy-Rock and everyone will be happy.

Kim Henderson - Kim's Cabins from Windsor on 05/14/2024 09:25 AM:
Kim here ?? I don't have camping, just my four modern cabins with kitchens. As Clinton said, across the street is wonderful Katy-Rock Junction and I often have folks do a mix of both mine and theirs. My phone number is everywhere if anyone needs it - 660-351-0905. Thanks for checking!

Kim.....you not sure if you're Kim or not??

Kim knows who she is, and everyone who is anyone knows who Kim is. The question is, who are you, Skippy? Oh, I’m sorry, Anonymous?

Rode from Franklin to Windsor. Had camped three nights and needed a real bed. Kim was very easy to work with over text. Paid by CC over the phone. Cabin very clean. Shower nice and hot. Great linens and towels. Couldn’t ask for better. As Kim told me over text, Verizon doesn’t work in town, so map out how to get to the cabin before you get in. Would stay here again. 10/10

We had a great stay at Kim's Cabins, LLC in Windsor on May 26, 2023. She has four cabins spaced on her lot, just a few feet from the Katy Trail, close to the junction with the Rock Island Trail.

Our cabin was very clean and comfortable with good air conditioning. Each cabin has a nice front porch for relaxing. Kim was very helpful and friendly. She is an advocate for extending the Rock Island Trail and shared some insight on the progress. Highly recommend staying here.

We started in Clinton and had our vehicle shuttled to Sedalia by Katy Trail Tours & Shuttle (also highly recommended). Biked to Windsor, had a great stay and checked out the town, and biked just past Sedalia to Beaman, and back to Sedalia.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Kim's Cabins. It was an excellent experience. The cabin was much, much nicer than I was expecting, and Kim was extremely helpful. The cabins are located just a few feet from both the Katy and Rock Island Trails. Highly recommended.

Kim's Cabins in Windsor/ Windsor Restaurants: Judy's, Wagon Wheel, El Jalisco
Barb & Jim from Cleveland Ohio on 05/09/2022 04:50 PM:
We stayed at Kim's Cabins April 28-29, 2022 after a wet ride from Pilot Grove. The cabins are just a short distance from the trail and also near the Rock Island Spur. We arrived later than we had planned, but Kim left instructions for getting into our cabin and arrived to greet us shortly afterward. We were able to hose down our bikes and store them in the locked garage.
The cabin was lovely and immaculately clean. If we had chosen to cook, all the necessary supplies were there. Better than cooking, Kim pointed us to 3 very nice restaurants within walking/ biking distance: Judy's Restaurant, Wagon Wheel and El Jalisco. All were very good with nice, clean welcoming interiors. We ate dinner at Judy's on April 28, breakfast at the Wagon Wheel on April 28 and 29, and dinner at El Jalisco on April 29 & 30. Prices were reasonable and portions were just right (generous at El Jalisco's).
Kim has great knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Katy Trail and the Rock Island Spur and willing shared. Her enthusiasm is contagious.
After our first night in the cabin, we planned to bike the Rock Island Spur, but heavy rains that night made the ride doubtful. In the morning, Kim met us and told us that she had a cancellation and if we wanted to stay an extra night, she would hold it for us. We attempted the Spur, but found it too soft, so we returned for a second night.
We are glad we chose Kim's Cabins for the comfort, convenience, and the use of Kim as a resource. We're looking forward to a future visit where we can build a fire in the fire ring and visit with the neighbors!

Windsor as home base

Trying to plan a 3 day eBike trip. Staying in one location, and riding 2-3 days from that location. Would Windsor be a good place to do so, and ride each way on the Katy trail, and another day on the Rock Island Spur. Place to stay for 2-3 couples, bars, and food? Weather in mid April? thanks,

Kim Henderson - Kim's Cabins from Windsor on 01/26/2022 06:40 AM:
Happy to have you contact me at Kim's Cabins to visit about this. I promote folks staying multiple nights in my 4 cabins and doing exactly this. Three great days of riding and hang around the campfire at night. Judy's Kitchen a favorite for dinner plus we have Jalisco, our new great Mexican restaurant and I have Weber grills. The Pickled Possum bar a fun hangout with numerous pool tables. Contact me soon for availability

Richard from Grafton on 01/26/2022 07:31 AM:
Fitzgerald's rental is a good option as well. Larger home with 1st floor as rental. I stay any opportunity I get when I bike through. Good place. As far as bars and food, there are a couple in town. The Opossum bar is one that comes to mind. The Chinese place has great food. I think a subway but not much else in Windsor. You can find everything listed in the services section of the website.

Hermann would also be worth checking out. There are plenty of places to stay, wineries, bars, food, etc. 40ish mile rides out and back both directions are probably more scenic than doing so from Windsor in my opinion. Jefferson City would allow for the same.

Weather in mid April is probably much like Lincoln NE. Could be rain, sunny, cloudy, cool, warm...

Would like to add another positive comment about Kim's Cabins in Windsor. Stayed there Sunday, 10/24/21; exceptional facilities. After getting caught in the squall that hit Leeton, it was the perfect place to stop. Will definitely make this a must stop on future trips.

Had reservations at Kim’s Cabins and I can’t say enough about this place. A buddy and me rode in torrential thunderstorms and flooding. She waited in the dark and rain till my buddy was found out on the trail. She made sure we had food and anything else that we may have needed. I truly can’t say enough great and wonderful things about her and the cabins. The cabin was clean and wonderful place to relax and sleep in. Will definitely be staying here again. 5 Stars

Kim's Cabins was a top-notch place to stay! We so appreciated the cleanliness of the cabin, well-equipped kitchen, and terrific location. Best of all though is Kim! She provided recommendations about local restaurants, trail information, weather information and told us about local history and culture. She is a gem! We highly recommend Kim's Cabins!

Guy & Carol from NW Arkansas on 05/18/2021 03:22 PM:
We first rode Katy Trail from Clinton to Machens in 2017 and based on mileage, Windsor was too close to the starting point but put Kim’s Cabins on our list of places for the future. In 2019 we met Kim and she was so amazing, friendly, and willing to help in our exploration of the Rock Island Trail! So on a Monday night thinking we wanted to get out of town, we decided to go up there the next day and explore again.

Kim as always was accommodating, got us all set up for our reservations and told us to let her know when we were an hour out on our drive in so she could meet us. We arrived, got our gear unloaded and after showing us everything including the concrete floor bike storage (A wonderful addition) Kim wished us a merry adventure as we rolled to Sedalia! Weather had turned cooler and there was rain in the forecast so knowing we had a dry overnight location made the day even better. Carol ended up with a flat rear tire as we ended our little 45 mile fun ride on the Katy so having that concrete floor to work on for repairs was just perfect for our needs!

Kim gave us some suggestions on dining options and Judy’s Kitchen certainly fit the bill!!

So time to settle in for the night arrives and you could not ask for a cleaner, cozier just off the trail sanctuary on a unseasonably Tuesday night! An amazing shower, fridge to keep things cool for the next day and the cleanest place we have stayed in a long time!

As we were packing the next morning to head on into KC, Kim pulled into the driveway and made sure we were good which was much appreciated! May 12, 2021

We had a VERY late start on a 95+ degree Sunday afternoon. We were dropped off in Clinton and we rode to Windsor for dinner (Happy China, yum) and a good nights rest to prepare for our ride east to Machens. Kim was there, the cooled cabin was EVERYTHING, the showers amazing and the covered bike storage was perfect as the night/morning sky opened up and downpoured for HOURS. Knowing we were planning to head out early, Kim checked on us, we were safe in the cabin and were waiting out the storm. She even picked up our breakfast I ordered from the Wagon Wheel since the thunderstorm was holding us hostage. She and the cabin couldn't have been nicer! We will definitely be back to stay in the future - bonus: the cabins are located right by the intersection of Katy Trail/Rock Island.

We have stayed at Kim's on several occasions, usually while riding on the Katy or Rock Island Trails. Recently, we stayed at Kim's for a fall getaway that did not include biking. The following weekend, my son and his wife spent a night at Kim's for a getaway. What a fantastic place. The cabins could not be more immaculate. The towels and linens are great. The kitchen is well stocked. The cabins could not be cleaner or more well kept. They are sparkling. Kim meets you when you arrive and is welcoming and personable. There are fire pits, wood for the fire, charcoal grills, comfy tables and chairs. There is a secure barn to keep your bikes AND there are even horse corrals! Best of all, Kim is a great advocate for the Missouri Rail-to-Trail systems.

My two boys(14 and 11yoa) and I stayed at Kim's after a lovely ride from Pleasant Hill last week on the Rock Island. It was the longest ride my boys had done and they were certainly happy to hit Windsor! Kim's Cabin was perfect! Super clean with comfortable beds and a very quiet but effective air conditioner. Kim is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks Kim! We'll be back

My husband and I stayed at Kim's Cabins for 3 nights.(As you pull into the cabins, ours was the cabin on the right, closest to the street. We had 2 queen beds in a fully furnished cabin with a full kitchen, full bathroom) We arrived VERY late on a Sunday night; Kim was very accommodating with the uncertainty of whether or not we would make it Sunday (we drove over 700 miles). We biked out and back on the Katy: one day to Clinton; another day to Sedalia, as well as adding in biking some of the spur including biking to an Amish produce auction up the road that Kim told us about. We LOVED the cabin we were in. The cabin had everything you need, and was meticulously clean & maintained. We loved having the microwave, full little stove with stovetop with 4 burners, coffee pot, sink, full refrig, dishes, utensils, anything that we needed to cook was there (we are picky with our foods, so prefer a kitchen rather than eating out), and full bathroom with great shower -- wonderful after a day of biking. (Katy Trail is accessed just less than minute away from Kim's Cabins) ,& Kim's great hospitality makes this a destination we highly recommend.

Cozy, comfortable, delightful stay! Don't let this small outside appearance keep you from experiencing this unique, fun, quaint cabin nestled in a a mid-west country town. The bed sleeps super well and the kitchen option was a huge blessing for us. Eat inside or out while listening to the Amish horses go by! We will certainly be back to stay and fish at Farrington Park!
