Lucy's Bar & Grill (McBaine)
Mary from Wheatland Mo. on 11/24/2009 03:49 PM:
We stopped at Lucy's anticipating a nice warm lunch. It was around 1:30 we were told not very nicely that the kitchen closed at 2 and they lock up at 2:30. We decided to have crackers and cheese at the traihead. This was the only low point of our 5 day ride. Even the lousy weather was better than the way they acted.

Called to check on getting lunch at Lucy's and found out it is CLOSED. Real bummer because we had stopped there in the past and had a good burger.

This place is the best. Wife and I had a burger, fries, onion rings, and beer. I don't know if the jukebox is free, but it had 10 free plays on it. After a nice ride from Rocheport, this was a great place to eat.

Wow... My girlfriend and I rode from Rocheport to McBaine on July 4 and sadly Lucy's was closed with a sign stating business for sale and a number to call.
MAH from Blue Springs on 07/06/2014 07:43 PM:
Sure hate to hear that about Lucy's. We always stopped for lunch when possible...best burgers on the trail!

Great burger and they were very busy so had to wait. No problem it was 50 outside the wind was blowing 20 to 30 MPH. Don't let the outside "scare" you off.

We stopped at Lucy's first on July 13th, 2009. We got there at 3 pm,
only to find, heartbreakingly, that the restaurant opened at 7:30 am
and closed at 2:30 pm. We learned our first lesson about the trail--
check the hours ahead of time of any restaurants that you are
depending on to be open. Take nothing for granted. When we came back
the next day, we got there around 11:30. We ordered cheeseburgers,
fries, fried green beans, and a Philly cheesesteak. Bearing in mind
our mantra of the trail food (that is, set expectations low and allow
yourself to be pleasantly surprised), we found all of the food to be
delicious. The staff seemed somewhat annoyed at our presence, they
were out of a number of things on the menu (we weren't able to get the
vegetable of the day, the fruit of the day, or the mac-n-cheese
bites), and we would have appreciated some less greasy menu options.
All in all, though, Lucy's is a pretty good place to stop along the
trail. Just remember the mantra.

My expectations are never this low! YUK says it all!

If you're not having fun, lower your standards. Besides, it's entirely possible that you are not really worth as much as you think.

Ate there couple of weeks ago. It was fine. It is a bar in the middle of no where. You can always eat next door.

We stopped in for lunch in October. Cheeseburgers and chili were great! Not to mention we were able to witness the most profane woman ever! Very impressive.

Not much more to add... a great place to take a break and get some hot food. And yes, the cheeseburgers are quite wonderful. $4.75 for a filling meal.

Thanks goodness for Lucy's. Nothing open between McKittrick and McBaine on a Tuesday. Stopped for a late lunch after several hours of gatoraide and gel pacs. I must have looked trashed out becuase they kept the cool water coming in buckets and the food service was quick.
EM from Milwaukee, WI on 04/22/2008 12:05 PM:
I concur. Lucy's is friendly and has good bar food and COLD macrobrews in bottles. They were open on a Monday! The restroom is minimalist but clean.

I also agree re Lucy's. I also think they have the best burgers of all the Bar & Grills along the Katy.

We are here about 2 weeks ago. When you are on the trail heading east, you have to look back to your right to actually see the place...it is easy to miss. At first, we felt out of place here since it was a lot of locals. No one gave us a hard time though. Our waiter has the personality of a rock, but we got our food quickly. The cheesburgers were absolutey fantastic! The "rabbit food" on the side was very fresh. The prices are good too. On our way out, Lucy briefly spoke to us. I would eat here again for sure.

Sunday September 17, 2006 we had lunch at Lucy's Bar and Grill. There were 11 in our group of gals. We rode bikes on the trail from Rocheport to McBaine to have lunch at Lucy's and enjoy the Live Blue Grass Music that started at 1:30. Had a wonderful time and really appreciate the warm hospitality, the delicious food and the Cold, Cold Beer. Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!

Wish we would have had the good fortune the other riders had at Lucy's. We stopped there on Sept. 28, 2006, for just pie and coffee. Had to wait nearly 20 minutes and the wait was not worth it. Neither the pie or coffee was very tasty. Guess we should have had a beer.

We stopped by Lucy's Bar and Grill on Tuesday April 18,2006 for lunch while riding the trail. It was awesome!!!!!! We enjoyed the atomosphere, the food, and the cold beer. Kenny, Shelly, and Lucy made all of us feel very welcome. We ordered the cheeseburger with everything on it. It was to die for. We will definitely stop there again. They are open Sun-Tues from 7am to 7pm, Wed-Sat 7am to close. We highly recommend stopping at Lucy's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ate at Lucy's (twice!) the weekend of June 3 & 4th. Good food, friendly service, a definite place to stop.
