We stayed in the big room upstairs above the mercantile. A very large space, with three separate beds. Worked well for three women. Two of the beds are inflatable mattresses. Joey was busy in the evening, so we were on our own for dinner. It was our longest day, so we got in late. A friend brought us pizza. Joey had nice snacks available. She also cooked us a fantastic breakfast in the morning, much of it from her own garden. Right on the trail, a nice place to stay.

Great big place for a larger group. Good food, welcoming hosts. Nice to stay right on the trail.

I was riding this section of trail on a Monday and virtually nothing was open along the trail. Joey, who runs the McKittrick Mercantile restaurant, saw me walking around the building and offered to cook me some food despite it being closed for the day. She made a great veggie pizza for a reasonable price, and was great company to boot. The Mercantile provides a much-needed service along the trail, and folks passing through McKittrick should take the short 100 yard walk to the Mercantile experience and support this great asset.

We will have to try it, sounds great.
We stop at the Loutre Market a lot for a drink or a food. They have a small deli in the back and have good food. It is just south of the trai off of HWY 19 about 1/4 of a mile.
