On May 10, 2014, I took my six nephews on a day trip starting at New Franklin and traveling to Rocheport by bicycle. This was our first trip on the trail, and did not know what to expect. The boys ranged in age from 4 to 12 years old. I was struck by the helpfulness and caring of ALL of the individuals on the trail. If we were stopped and somebody passed us, they always asked if we needed assistance, everyone waved to one another, and when the boys did not move to the right side of the trail when being passed, the "professional" cyclist were courteous and waited for them to move over. This trail is VERY family friendly and I encourage families not to be hesitant about going. We traveled almost 20 miles round trip, and the two six year old nephews were in front of the pack the entire time. Also, we stopped at Rocheport to eat lunch at the Trailside Cafe and Bike Shop, and the staff was very courteous, helpful, and genuinely interested in our trip and asked about our well being. I want to thank each and every one of the people who were on the trail that day who made this trip so enjoyable.
