Has anyone recently used the campsite at Portland? IT doesn't look like much to me and I'm kind of wary about staying the night there. Also has anyone stayed in a hotel near the trail in Boonville? And do they allow bikes in the rooms?

I've stayed at the Rivers Edge campground in Portland several times last year. You are correct not much there, but the shower house was always clean and the bar and grill is just up the street.

I've stayed at the Hotel Frederick in Boonville and they have a basement room to lock up the bikes in.

The Comfort Inn is not too far off the trail on the south side of Boonville. They allow bikes in your room there. The Frederick is right on the trail. Cost a bit more but is near the casino, downtown, restaurants, etc. and their bike room works well.
