I have mentioned the generally unfriendly atmosphere at the Mokane store before. I met a young man yesterday at the Turner Shelter who is hiking across the U.S. and drove him down to Mokane to get something to have for supper. The lady working the counter was extremely pleasant to deal with so maybe I had just caught them on a couple of bad days before.

My husband and I were treated very rudely at the Mokane Market today. I would never go there again. I think the owners just really dislike cyclists. The Mokane Bar and Grill on the next block is great and they love cyclists!

The young woman who works there sometimes is lovely. The people at the Mokane Bar & Grill (fantastic folks and even better food btw) said "Grumpy"'s mood changes according to his blood sugar levels. Regardless of temperament, the townspeople think highly of him and he's performing a service to the town and the trailriders. I can't believe how much stuff they stock in that little store! Anyway, don't be afraid to stop there, you never know who you'll get.

I was just there, sweaty and grimy and dirty, and the young lady at the store was completely friendly and cheerful, and even suggested I stay inside a bit to get out of the heat.
