Question = I need to know the surface of the Lewis & Clark Trail Head path at Katy Trail. I am running in the KT 82 Relay & have not run this trail before. Is dirt, asphalt, both, wooded, steep any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Not aware of any "Lewis & Clark Trail Head path", but all of the Katy Trail is flat and crushed limestone, wooded and open. The only paved section is on a mile or so of city streets in Sedalia.

After looking at the race website it looks like they are referring to the Lewis & Clark Historical Marker near Weldon Springs. It is all crushed limestone in that area, wooded, shady and flat for the most part.

If you are running legs 4,5,or 7...in the Weldon Springs Conservation area, those will be more challenging, dirt, single track and hilly.

If you are running leg 5, that is approx. 2 miles Katy, 2.5 miles Clark Trail(ends at Lewis & Clark TH). The Clark portion is dirt and will be more uphill than down. If you are running leg 6, that is 2.5 miles Clark, then approx. 3 miles Katy. The Clark portion is some gravel on this section but then dirt but will be more than downhill than up. I believe leg 7 is mostly on the Hamburg Trail and Lost Valley Trails, these are part gravel, part dirt with some hills but not near as hilly as the Clark Trail. I see they rate some sections on the Katy as "difficult" but that is only because of the longer race legs like the section from Augusta to Dutzow and you will be exposed to sun for much of that leg.
