this will be our first ride on the Katy Trail and thought about going to Weldon Springs to Augusta..is this a nice ride?? Also where is the best parking in Weldon Springs?

Sure that's a great section. It's mainly farmland with a good portion of wooded areas as well. You've got good eating and drinking options in Defiance and Augusta, plus wineries along the way if you like that.

For parking, click Weldon Spring in the map at the top of this web page, and you'll see two options with the "P" parking symbol. I like parking at the MO Research Park because it has a nice trail leading down from the lot to the Katy Trail, and is quicker to get to from highway 40/64, but the trailhead is fine too.

If you do park at MO Research Park, note that it is 4 miles east of the Weldon Spring trailhead. So you'll have a 20-mile round trip if you park at the W.S. trailhead, or a 28 mile round trip if you park at MO Research Park.

It's a nice section of trail, but you really can't go wrong with just about any section of the trail.
