Just wondering if the actual trailhead is next to the trail and if it's easily accessed from 94.
thanks!

Yes on both accounts. Heading west on 94 look for the signs after passing the water treatment plant on your right. You turn left and it's right after a curve, so start slowing down and be ready. The trailhead is at the bottom of the hill down the gravel road. Parking is directly adjacent to the KATY.

Does that trailhead have water? It has been a while since I was last there.

My recollection from our very hot Memorial Weekend ride is that, no, there is no water here, and it makes for a long, thirsty stretch if you don't carry LOTS of water.

There is no water available at Weldon Spring but the restrooms are quite nice.

Defiance is only about 3 miles or so west of Weldon Springs. There's plenty to drink there. The bike shop and both restaurant/taverns sell Gatorade I believe. The bike shop has an outdoor water spigot with hose. I've never asked, but knowing their reputation, I'm sure they wouldn't mind people filling water bottles there, especially when they're closed. They also have an outdoor vending machine that sells soft drinks and gatorade I believe.

Yes, the bike shop is glad to let you use their restrooms (when open) and have as much water as you want. I drop by there every couple of weeks, in good riding weather, to stock up on snacks while riding the Katy Trail.

There's also cold water and restrooms at the "Weldon Spring Interpretive Center" (next to the concrete disposal cell "mountain").

I assume the same for the Busch conservation area building, at the end of the trail.
