I and my dog stayed at the Frederick on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Had hoped to do some hiking on the Katy trail but the weather was just too cold for more than a stroll. Beautiful old hotel, very well kept up, with friendly service. When you walk into the lobby it's like you've time-traveled to the 1920s: anyone who remembers the hotel in the classic comedy "Some Like It Hot" will see the resemblance right away.

Had a very good dinner salad the first night at the Frederick's restaurant but it was closed in the morning. If you stay in Boonville and want to good meal at a reasonable price, do try The Diner on Main Street. They have very good breakfasts in particular, with generous portions.

I do hope to do this again, maybe in late March or early April.

Oh, great to hear about cycling on the Katy in 2020; I am very impressed by these mileages!
We stayed at the Grand Victorian in Boonville in October 2019, on our way from Sedalia to St Charles - just a modest 182 miles over several days, around the detours, getting lost here and there on the highway, in the heat. The Grand Victorian was lovely, and I remember the Diner was very good too. This year is so different for us. We haven't even been to the USA at all, let alone cycled there as we usually do. My wife is from Pennsylvania and has very close family there, so it's been hard but we are staying safe.
We did take our bikes to Wales but it rained the whole time, and I mean rain. Cats and dogs.
We plan to be back when the pandemic dies down, and we are able to travel again. Thanks for keeping me posted through this website.
