I am planning on adding the Rock Island Spur to our riding of the KATY trail for the third time. Does anyone know the condition or completion status of the section from Lee's Summit to Pleasant Hill?

That section won't be completed for another 3-5 years. Over the next 2 years, about 3 more miles will be built, but that still leaves about 4 miles of the most difficult terrain (and no property rights yet) to complete. Just this last weekend, I posted some detailed maps of the gap on the Rock Island Trail (Kansas City to Pleasant Hill) Facebook page. There are several low traffic routes that you can use now to make the connection to Lee's Summit, but you have to be at least somewhat comfortable riding in a little traffic.
