Just wondering if anyone has any comments on the safety of leaving a parked car overnight at the Jefferson City North TH parking lot?

The Jefferson City Trailhead is one of the safest parking lots on the entire Katy. I would not hesitate to park a car there long term.

Times change I guess. In years past this trailhead did not get good reviews here. I wouldn't leave my car there if I had a choice.

I would not leave my car overnight at the North Jefferson trailhead. The are frequent break-in/thefts from cars there. A safer option would be either the JC Parks and Rec pavilion parking lot just south of the trailhead or across the river at one of the state office building parking lots.

Jefferson City: There is a bike shop on W Main Str near the capitol building - The Red Wheel Bike Shop - that has a large and well lighted parking lot. Me and another guy I rode the Katy with have left our cars there for 3-4 days. The owner is really a good guy. He also has a shuttle service that he provides too When we rode the Butterfield Stagecoach Exper route we finished in Jeff City and he drove us back to Springfield The cost was approx $220 for the three of us
Good shop to pick up some last minute supplies or check out the bikes

I used to live in Jefferson City and Red Wheel Bike Shop is a great place. I'm glad to see the previous post from Mike Gerwig saying that he has parked his car there for rides. The bike shop is on the south side of the Missouri River, close to where the Pedestrian/Bike Missouri River path intersects with W.Main St. in Jefferson City. So you would park your car at the bike shop (be sure and tell the guys there hello) go maybe 1/4 mile to where the pedestrian/bike path starts, to safely cross the Missouri River, (it's a great experience to see the Missouri River from that path), and probably less than a mile to connect to the Katy Trail.
