I’ll be riding from San Diego to Maine this spring. Planning a detour north to ride Katy. Anyone know a decent route? I’ll be on google maps...

Your best bet is to actually work your way north using the nice rail trails on the eastern edge of Kansas. Look up the Southwind Rail Trail starting in Humbolt which leads north to the longer Prairie Spirit Rail Trail to Ottawa. Then from Ottawa, turn east along the Flint Hills Rail Trail to Osawatomie. You can then work your way straight east from Osawatomie, Kansas to Clinton, Missouri.

Thank you! That looks perfect. Due north from Tulsa...

No problem...let me know if you have questions about crossing the Mississippi River once you get near St. Louis at the east end of the Katy Trail. There are multiple options, but some are more fun to ride across, especially the bike/ped only Chain of Rocks Bridge. Unfortunately there isn't a great connection between the Katy Trail and the Chain of Rocks Bridge, so you have to weave around quite a bit.
