So, on a Thursday in June, I'm playing with how this will work: I'm thinking about Amtraking to St. Charles from KC (8:15 train); is there a service that will pick me up from the train station and take me to the trail head so I can start my journey back to KC on the Katy? I'd normally just Uber it, but I think they might have a problem with my bike... I know I can bike from the train station to trailhead, but I don't want to mess with city streets...

Few ideas to consider: You can ride to Alton and be on trail 90% of time and ride the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge on the way there. From Alton cross the Mississippi and an hour ride to Machens in a slower area. Or continue past Alton to Grafton and take the ferry across...then roads in a rural area. Again with the roads, but outside of the busy city.
Do some research on Uber or Lyft alternatives, I don't have the exact one, but they do have trucks for hire. A new service is Bungii or GoShare...maybe they can help.
Or you can use your google skills and look for Katy Trail Shuttle for some options.
I found this on the website youre looking at now: http://www.showmemotours.com/content/shuttle/tour_shuttle_katytrail.htm

Google katy trail shuttle. Several services do this.
Search this website. There is a services section that has companies.
St Charles Yellow Cab offers the service, but you need to specify your needs.
Check into other Uber/Lyft options. There are some light truck/moving services.
Trails to Alton or to Grafton Ferry...then rural roads to Machens.
