I am planning a short (unsupported) two day bikepacking ride beginning Friday June 16 at the Mokane Trailhead and riding east to Hermann (camping in Hermann) and then a return ride to Mokane. Any trail conditions to note? Asking because originally planned to do Columbia to Boonville but heard the trail is in bad shape presently. Any update for the Hermann-Mokane area would be appreciated.

Just rode this stretch 7/11. Due to the storm on 7/9 (and a couple weeks prior) there are trees/branches down but nothing that would make it impassable. Trail is well marked with "rough surface" signs...and they are...either ridges, ruts or loose gravel/rock. BE CAREFUL riding too close to the edge/foliage areas as we had three flats due to cockle burrs getting under the tire rims. You'll have no problems with the route. Bar and grill open in Portland, otherwise on Sunday there were not many places to stop. BEWARE of the mosquitos...they are huge and will swarm within seconds of stopping on the trail, especially with all the water and shade!
