I'm joining the chorus singing Doug's praises. I showed up exhausted after a 50 mile day and an on-trail repair. All I expected was a flat piece of grass on which to pitch my tent and access to a shower. I got oh so much more. Doug cheerfully welcomed me, gave me the ten cent tour, assured that I had everything I needed for my shower (including offering towel, soap, and shampoo), and even hauled a chair over to my tent.

In addition to camping, Doug offers a B&B-like experience. There was another guest staying at Bluffton Barn that night on that plan, which included dinner. I cooked my own dinner in the kitchen and then sat outside with the the other guest and Doug for a couple of hours of story swapping.

The next morning, I bought into Doug's breakfast and feasted on a breakfast casserole, home baked bread, and fresh cantaloupe.

Kudos to Doug indeed a Katy Trail treasure.

The same can be said about you, Joey.

Just for the record; Joey is a better cook than I am. She's more knowledgeable as well as more skilled. But I'm bigger.

Doug is a fantastic host! I originally planned on staying two nights, with an overnight bike camping trip in between at Klondike park. The ride would have been 50 miles out then 50 miles back the next day. However, a ferocious storm came in that night washing out my campsite.

I called Doug in a bit of a panic and he happily came and picked me up (in the dark) from the campground. This helped me so much that I can’t recommend his place enough. Perhaps I could have been better prepared for the storm, but it allowed me to stay an extra night at the Bluffton Barn, plus I was treated to music with Doug and a friend of his.

Doug, thanks again for everything, and also thanks for recommending the Churchill Memorial in Fulton.

Ed
