Wondering if anyone can share which direction from McKittrick (East/West) would provide the best scenery and less car traffic? We are planning only a 10 mile out and 10 mile back round trip. Any suggestions? Thanks.

For a ten mile out I would head east. You won't be too close to hwy 94 for the first four miles and then you get to ride between the bluffs and the river, with some parts right next to the river. If you ride west you are fairly close to 94 most of the time. Good views of harvest time either way. West you could take a detour of a little over a mile UP a hill on County road P to Starkenburg to see the old church buildings. VERY scenic. Also at Bluffton you could take a hike that brings you out on top of the bluffs overlooking the river bottom. That is about a 3 mile round trip hike.
