Does anyone have an update on the trail from Boonville to Rocheport?

Gary from Near Tebbetts on 9/5/2021 9:42:57 PM:
Pretty safe bet it is still messed up. If it gets fixed you probably will hear the cheers and read many posts here claiming the Katy trail is back.

We just rode that on Wednesday (trip report will follow from full trip) and the only part with a problem was the expected bridge out. We used the unofficial detour using the creek crossing which was bone dry at the time. The trail north was very rough for a few hundred yards or more probably because it is inside the detour and not under maintenance yet. Since the road detour starts right at the unofficial detour I would suggest checking the creek crossing to see about water before attempting the road ride. Overall the Katy is in very good shape for a limestone trail.

The trail itself is in decent shape. The bridge is still out. I don’t like the detour so I use the crossing. It was in great shape before the rain. I’ll be on that section again tomorrow.

We will be riding from Sedalia to Rocheport this Sunday Sept 12. Has anyone made the stream crossing approaching Rocheport in the last couple days? We are hoping to avoid the detour. We have been monitoring the weather and it looks promising.

Gary from Near Tebbetts on 9/10/2021 3:04:14 PM:
Sounds like you are on sound footing by checking the rain for the area. The creak crossing is subject to flash flooding so if it doesn’t rain the day of or day before you get there you most likely willl not encounter any problems.

P. S.
The weather has been great lately, enjoy your ride.

There is a picture on the Fans of the Katy Trail Facebook page from this past Wednesday and the low water creek crossing is dry as a bone. The weather forecast looks really dry for the next week too. Have a fun ride!

I rode it Wednesday and posted a picture of the salt creek crossing in both of the popular Facebook groups. It was completely dry and I rode right through. On the east side you would have to make your way around the barricade placed by the state parks. Please understand they cannot authorize people to enter private property they do not own and furthermore not condone crossing a creek which could contain flowing water….some people don’t have common sense. Some people will say this is trespassing, but I have read (I can’t prove this) that others were at a local meeting where the property owner stated he has no problem with trail users taking the very short detour that crosses one small corner of his land. By the way, there is a closed section of the trail from 40 highway at Salt Creek and about a 1/4 mile west….this allows trail users to actually access 40 to detour. If this unauthorized detour s not for you, take the highway detour or the gravel rode detour which does have some hills. Safe travels.
