Had a great 2.5 day ride this week (Oct 18-20). Here are some highlights and comments for those touring in the future:

1. Riding on Monday/Tuesday presents risk of finding many business closed. I will choose different days next time.

2. Great lodging experience with the Globe Hotel in Hartsburg (again) and Kim's Cabins in Windsor.

3. Riding East to West is great until you reach Booneville and I had no idea until looked at my Strava data how much elevation gain is experienced in that next 75 mile stretch. For anyone doing that stretch - definitely recommend West to East route!

4. I've never rode through Sedalia before and will not again. Surely there are plans to route Katy around all of that?

5. I will never ride Amtrak again - 4 hour delay on Sunday with very few updates provided. I went from Lee's Summit to Washington and then rode back to Clinton.

6. The experience of nature, solitude and the rural landscape is always better than expected.

7. My fourth trip on the Katy and definitely not my last.

Planning a group ride next fall - Probably going to go Booneville to Hermann

Actually the ride though Sedalia used to be much worse with a lot more of it on the road. The new part of the trail is better but the signage on the roads could be better. There are a lot of intersections to cross on busy streets, but it's not dangerous if you are careful.

Awww, Sedalia isn't that bad.

But finding a place open on Sunday or Monday can be tricky!
