I am curious what, if any, activity has begun on tearing out the old bridge and beginning the new construction and what impact that is having, or will have, on the ability to use to low water crossing. I could easily see that construction might put the crossing out of commission, to keep people out of the way of heavy machinery.

I just saw a posting by MoDOT that there is a free bridge available in Livingston Co MO. I say send it to Salt Creek. Check out the site. www.modot.org/free-bridges

Rode through the short detour on 10/23/21. Worried that work on the removal of the old bridge would impact the ability to use the low water detour, but as far as I could tell everything was exactly the same as when I came through in the middle of July. The old bridge didn't look like it had been touched.

My lifelong buddy from Florida and I rode from Boonville east on a beautiful, cool, low humidity day October 21. We rode too far on the gravel road past the low water crossing and I flatted, so we decided to bite the bullet and take the narrow highway detour. Fortunately we saw the low water crossing as we crossed on the highway bridge and turned around. We are glad we did because we had a great time riding east that day, including some fall colors and the tunnel.
