Most of the time you can show up and stay - the key is on the utility pole next to the shelter. The shelter is seldom completely full but it does occasionally happen so if you want to check before your stay you can use the reservation form here - https://www.conservemo.org/reservation-form.html
or call the office - 573-634-2322 ext 101

The Turner Shelter in Tebbetts is such a wonderful service. I do have a question. Does it close for the winter?

Thanks to the volunteers who help make it work.

My son and I stayed there last week. It was a nice respite from the storm that night. Met some other bikers going through. Big storm that night (heard tornados touched down) and there was water pouring in various spots. Through the 2nd floor roof through onto the floor into the 1st floor and places where bikes are stored. Not much we could do but put some buckets out. You pay by honor system and put it in post office next store. It is a such a treasure to have that on the trail I hope they can continue to do repairs and keep it open! Jim next door is very friendly and I can see he checks in from time to time to be sure things are ok there. He even showed us his collection of Model T's and baked a pizza for us just to be a trail angel. Good people abound! I did lose my daughter's favorite Nalgene water bottle there. Oh boy...going to be hard to replace that with all her adventure stickers.

Thanks for putting the buckets out. The storm blew some shingles off the roof. Got it patched on Sunday so all is good.

Have you taken care of the critter that lives in the walls?

Doug from Bluffton on 11/2/2021 9:06:11 PM:
Certainly. It's well fed and gets a lot of attention.

In response to Critters in the walls. When I stayed there last may I happened to be the only person there one night. At some time during the early morning hours I could hear a loud scratching noise coming from the left side of the front door. Then whatever it was either a racoon or opossum climbed up the inside of the wall and across the ceiling above my bunk. I looked around the building to investigate but could find nothing. I did not go upstairs though.
