Lots of poison hemlock along the trail. Know what it looks like. Don't touch it. Will cause a severe rash.

Are you sure what you saw wasn’t Queen Anne’s Lace?

Groves Cooke from Pacific on 6/26/2022 2:22:56 PM:
Pretty sure this is poison hemlock. Blotchy purple stems. Different from Queen Anne's Lace

That would be hemlock.....,,I’ve seen it occasionally on the Katy but see much more of Queen Anne’s Lace.

Between Augusta and Treeloar there is more hemlock than Queen Anne's Lace. The hemlock is much taller. Is there a way to post pictures on this forum? I have picture of both plants from that area.

Another way to tell the difference between Queen Annes lace and Hemlock is the Queen Anns lace (QAL) is an umbral flower arrangement if you look at the flowers and the stalks radiate from the stem from a central point, like an upside-down umbrella, its QAL. All the flower stems on a Hemlock come from different points along the plant stock. it may be harder to tell the difference between wild parsnip and Hemlock except for the purple blotching on the stem.
