We are also planning a trip on the Katy starting Aug 5, and would also appreciate any updates you readers could provide on the condition of the trail.

The flash flooding has been centered around the St. Louis area and especially St. Charles (where the trail ends just to the northwest of St. Louis). The trail is a little soft with some sandy spots right now, but after this weekend they are calling for 10 days of 90 degree weather across the state so the Katy Trail will dry out and firm up really quick the first week of August.
