Closure from Jung Station Rd to Pitman Hill

Dean from Columbia on 7/29/2022 5:11:17 PM:
The Mo State Katy Trail Park advisory site is stating the trail is closed from mm 44 to 48 due to extensive storm damage. Can anyone update this, and are there any detours?

The Greens Bottom closure. It looks like riding Greens Bottom road is the alternative. There's a substantial paved shoulder. Anyone know what the traffic is like. We expect to hit that stretch a little after midday on Aug. 11 going west, and again on Aug 21 going east. I can't find any discussion of this closure anywhere on the web, except for the state park advisory map statement saying the closure is due to extensive storm damage.

Rode by that section yesterday. The trail is posted as closed. I did see some people riding that section though. There are some areas of some pretty good washouts. They are working on repairs. You can ride the shoulder of Jungs Station Road. In some places the shoulder is narrow but rideable. It isn't a very busy road during the week. You may run into more cars on the weekend.

To Avatar: thanks very much. We were on the trail last year in July and threaded our way through various washouts. And learned to avoid fresh limestone before it sets up. I appreciate your response.

2022-08-11 Just rode the Green Bottom section. It's not closed on the ground. Some loose chat, but it's eminently rideable.

My group of 10 will also want to pass through mile markers 44 to 48 on September 8th and again on September 11th. You say it is 100 % rideable? We are hoping not to have to add mileage with a detour. Plus, I am with a few who are not fans of road riding. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Rode today with no real issues. Some loose stone pat Greensbottom trail head.
