What "other" activities should we experience along the Katy. Is there kayaking available? Orrrr, great hikes not to be missed? Best views of eagles? Say 'HI" to us in Oct west > east. We'll be chugging along on our red recumbent trikes latched together.

October 10 - 11 Pumpkin Festival in Hartsburg. Very festive.

Like Bill R., I also highly recommend passing through the little town of Hartsburg on Saturday, Oct. 10th for their Pumpkin Festival. The trail runs right through the festival grounds. And along with that, I am planning a 6 day ride beginning from the west end of the trail in Clinton and ending in St. Charles. This will be maybe the 11th time for me riding the length of the trail. And, I am hoping to get others to join me as my usual riding companions (brother and brother-in-law) are not available. Hoping you might consider riding along with me, and others. *See my post from June 24 (heading DOGBERT) with my intended itinerary.*

Hey, DucahDan, I wonder what your average mph is on your tethered recumbant trikes, and if you might be interested in meeting and riding along with others? I started out my first ride when I had only a work issued pager in 1998. My approach was to ride 10 miles in one hour (with a couple minutes here and there for pix, etc.), then rest for an hour. Now I still average @ 10 mph, but don't adhere to any type of schedule other than to arrive at pre-arranged stops for lodging before sunset. For me, I think it would be interesting to ride along with a group of new friends to add to the experience. Thoughts?
