-Sedalia has a nice campground at the state fairground. Heading west, turn right (north) on the paved road that runs along the western edge of the fairgrounds for about 1/2 mile, at which point you can't miss the "campground" sign. No picnic tables, for whatever reason, but nice showers.
-Green Ridge does allow camping in their (absolutely gorgeous) city park. The downside is that you're the goldfish in the bowl: it's a one-square block park in the middle of the city. There is a restroom in the park, which the city will unlock for you if you're camping, and a gas station adjacent.
-Windsor: their city park is south of the trail about one mile. They have dedicated camping spaces near the lake, $5, no shower, but a nice place.
-Clinton allows camping behind their civic center (about .25 miles from trailhead) and also use of center shower facilities. Note they're closed on Sunday, which was an unwelcome surprise for me last month.
You don't have to worry about either running out of water or starving on this section, and I particularly recommend the sub shop in Green Ridge, just off the trail.
