I've never rode Amtrak. Can you buy tickets at the Kirkwood depot? OR do I need to purchase tickets online?

Tickets can be purchased on line, but tickets cannot be purcased at the Kirkwood station. The Kirkwood Station is manned by volunteers and do not handle money.

Also, they limit the number of bikes on each train, so if you are taking your bike, you definitely want to make that reservation ahead of time.

You can buy your tickets on board the train. Not recommended if you're taking your bike as pointed out by ET.
