New to bike, not to trail

Hi guys.

I have decided to give the shoe leather a break for a while and see how things work out on two wheels, but I am admittedly a greenhorn. So I bought a cheap bike (Wallyworld) to test out before I make a bigger investment. So I have a question:

I recall a posting or three on here about tire treatments for the trail. It seems there was either an insert (kevlar, slime, something else?) that some folks were using that made tires virtually invulnerable to the trail... anyone remember that thread?

Thanks for your help

Use the Search button above and Google this site for puncture..kevlar...tire, or the like and you will find several threads and a good "article" by a poster on the tire issue and various tire choices.

Use a full dosage of Slime.
This will add a pound or two of weight to the Wally World bought bike but thats OK with the firm knowlage that you won't get a flat.

With bike touring its all about comfort so I would set a realistic expectation that your bike set up should be comefortable at least a couple of hours, then the usual suspects will set in like a sore back, neck,
legs (sometimes the hands).

Best of luck!
