do not try to ride over the bridge... i am amazed no one has died on it... one of the scariest
things i have ever done... no kidding...

You must have ridden INTO town on the south bound lanes. The bike lane(in and out of Jefferson City) is actually on the shoulder of the north (out bound) lanes of traffic and easily done.

nope..... if you dont mind cars coming at you at 70 miles an hour with nothing between you
and them but about 6 inches and air...

Why not stay in Hartsburg, you are seconds away from the trail and it is only about 10 miles from Jeff. City.

Maybe because some people want to visit Jefferson City and see the sites?

Wow. Sorry you had such a bad experience. We took the train to Jeff City, and despite not
liking to ride on the road--we had no problem riding across the bridge. In fact, as I recall
it was early on a weekend and drivers slowed and got over to the far left lane so that we
could ride in the right lane and out of the "debris" that is common on the side of the road.
I hope other's aren't discouraged--it's a good idea carry a "backup" phone number (cab,
B&B) in case I see a bridge I don't like. (A mirror also makes such bridge crossings a little
less stressful).
