I did my first Katy ride last week and loved it. I didn't get to ride the entire trail due to my husbands health problems, but I would like to try again. I have more vacation time in October and would love to ride and see the fall colors. How safe is the trail during the first couple of weeks in October. I saw signs about hunting but wondered if anything has ever happened?

Mostly bittersweet, paw paw, and persimmon hunting going on in October. Usually mid October is prime fall color time.

I've biked the KATY several times during October and have never had any problems with hunters. In my opinion October is the absolute best time to be on the KATY.

I've seen hunters walk across the trail on their way out to the fields--but never had any
problems. They are aware of the trail (illegal to fire within 100 ft of the trail?). But I wear
high-vis yellow just to be safe.
