I have read nothing but good things about this place but after staying there I don't know why. The owner was out of town so he had his neighbor take care of us and to her credit, she did an excellent job. Her meals were delicious, but the house was run down and dirty. This was the most expensive place we stayed in during our week on the trail so I was expecting a much better experience. We got a room for three but one of us had to sleep on an air mattress. The bathroom had not been cleaned and the house was much too small to accomodate the 9 guests who stayed the night. Next time I'll save money and stay in one of the cabins at Steamboat Junction or stay in Hermann.

I'm The owner of the Rendleman Home and my neighbor has told me of your group. My response to your accusations: A full, delicious, as even you admit, family style dinner makes a room more expensive. This is not hard to realize. When the reservations were made I told that person as I do everyone, that this is NOT a lace and doilies B&B but rather an old farm house that I am IN THE PROCESS OF RESTORING. IT is clean beds good food and hot showers. One of you did not HAVE to sleep on an air mattress but you CHOSE to. Your reservation was for a double bed with a futon which is what you received. Deb OFFERED the air mattress so one of you would not share a double bed and you CHOSE to do this. When you stay in a B&B with a shared bath you are expected to leave the bathroom clean behind yourself, not leave a mess for the next person and then complain about it. As to the 9 guests. She had 2 people show up late without a reservation hoping to get inside and she let them stay in the loft. Not your room. I am not at all sorry if that bothers you. Next time you won't save any money because you won't have food but stay somewhere else anyway. You and your friends will not be welcome here.
To the rest of my guests that are honest and fun I apologize for the rant. Doug

My daughter and I stayed at Rendleman Home last fall in the very room that was described by the previous poster. This room is ideal for a couple with a child. But for 3 adults that do not want to share a bed then it would not work. Someone would have to sleep on the floor.
My stay at Rendleman was fun,the atmosphere was more like staying with family that you actually like. Also I want Doug's recipe for French Toast!! How about it Doug?
