Clay from Albuquerque on 8/19/2011 5:47:38 PM:
If anyone recalls seeing or meeting the Japanese cyclist, Tatsuya, on the KT in late July 2011 riding from New York to Los Angeles, I have an update. He and I met in Portland, MO on July 29 and exchanged contact information. He is in New Mexico as of 8/19/11. I was able to give him a few patch kits as he had several flats riding Interstate 25 from Denver into New Mexico and was nearly out. I met him along our Rio Grande Bosque trail in the northern part of Albuquerque, we rode south and across the Rio Grande on our federally stimulus funded Gail Ryba Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge, went to a Firestone carshop where a nice mechanic with a big wrench tightened his kickstand (huge bolt). We then proceeded west, parallel to Interstate 40, on Route 66 up Central Avenue to the far western outskirts of Albuquerque. We shared a snack and bid adieu. He is on a rushed schedule to ride 80-90 miles a day and be in Los Angeles by Aug 29.

His story can be found at http://cyclering88.tumblr.com

Thanks for the update Clay. I did meet him and another rider from I think S.
Carolina that were riding together for a bit. We chatted at the N Jefferson trailhead and I found their stories so interesting. I contacted the Jefferson City News Tribune and they got a reporter and photographer to Hartsburg in time to meet these two young men. There was a great story in the Jefferson City paper the next day. I'll look at the website you gave.
