Advice on camping

Hello Katy Trail enthusiasts! After living by this trail for 20 years, I think I want to take a few days to hike a stretch of it.

My only problem is that I really can't afford anything more expensive than camping— and there's that 25ish-mile gap between the campsite in Augusta and my destination in St. Charles. Have any of you hiked the trail and camped anywhere between Augusta and St. Charles? I know you're not allowed to just pitch a tent anywhere, but does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Klondike Park comes to mind right off the bat! It's a very nice place too!. They also have some nice small cabins they rent inexpensively. But they do have a goodly amount of primite campsites.

I have heard good things about Klondike Park, and I'm hoping to camp there. There's still 25 miles between there and St. Charles, though, which is nothing to bike, but is a long way to walk in one day. :)

I've seen people camp at the far east end of the Weldon Spring trailhead parking lot. The trailhead there has no water and just basic restroom facilities. It can also get thick with mosquitoes around dusk.

So, yes, there is a spot there, but I can't think of a regular camping spot anywhere between Weldon Spring and Greens Bottom. That being said, there are plenty of spots where you wouldn't be noticed or bothered at all if you went thirty feet off the trail, preferrably away from the river.

Weldon Spring TH is at MM 56, St. Charles TH at MM 40, and Klondike Park at MM 64, so I don't see Weldon Spring TH working for what the original poster wants to do.

For the DNR ride in June when they start the ride in St. Charles, the City of St. Charles lets that group camp at Frontier Park, which is right on the riverfront in downtown St. Charles. You may try contacting the City of St. Charles Police Dept. at (636)949-3300 and discuss with them. This is also the number you need to call if you want to leave your car in Frontier Park overnight and not get it towed away.

I'm also wondering why camp if you live in St. Charles just go home.

She is not wanting to camp in St. Charles......she is wanting to camp somewhere between Augusta and St. Charles.
