We're taking the train to Washington on Saturday, November 5 and biking to Hermann. Is there a cab co. that can haul two recumbents (plus 2 humans) across the river? We're not staying in town, so a shuttle from a B&B is probably out! We'd gladly hitch a ride in the back of someone's truck.

We used a taxi service years ago when we made a similar trip. Check out Millennium Taxi--(636) 432-1700 ?was listed on the web.

Maybe use the power of social media like this forum to find others crossing the bridge on that day? The bridge is old, narrow, and with tons of big city traffic, but a group of bikers crossing would be safe where one or two might not.

How about an ad on Craigslist for a ride wanted? Make an offer and see if someone local responds. Just be sure they understand what a recumbent is. I have had excellent luck with rides offered in the past.

New bridge over river. OK to ride across now but double check with MODOT

When did this new bridge get built? Over the weekend? You must be thinking of the bridge at Hermann. It's the only new bridge over the Missouri river. There is a new pedestrian/bike lane over the river at Jefferson City but not a new bridge. The bridge at Washington is not easy to ride across but it's the highway on the north side of the river there that is awful to try to ride. NO SHOULDER and fast traffic. Far better to find a shuttle.
