Planning a Spring trip with my three sons and wanting to camp along the way. I used the Trip Planner tool here, but when I drove out to Marthasville and Portland, the indicated campgrounds didn't seem to exist.

How often is the Trip Planner updated?

Can anyone suggest good campgrounds between Defiance and Jefferson City?

We have camped at:
Klondike Park in Augusta
Steamboat Junction in Bluffton
Rivers Edge in Portland
and stayed at the Turner Shelter Hostel in Tebbets.

What do you mean by they didn't seem to exist? The camping in Marthasville is at the community park right across the trailhead. The campground at Portland is right above the trailhead.

The campsites you mentioned are there. Marthasville has two campsites. The city owns the area with the old replica cabin. It is free to camp there. Across the street is the sports complex/ball field. The fee for camping there is $5 (in 2010) each. A man owns the facility and will charge you $5 even if you camp in the city park but use his restrooms and showers. The showers are hot but you have to run the water for a while.
At Portland, the campsites are above the trail and are fairly good. The cost is $10. The small bath/shower facility is kept in good shape. If you camp at Portland, take snacks for breakfast or eat later. The Riverfront Bar and Restaurant doesn't open until 11:00 AM (I think)
