Can someone please tell me what those bright shiny small blue birds are all along the trail? I have been searching the MO Conservation Deptartment website and can't seem to find any similar. And I never see them anywhere else except along the trail, this time of year. Anyone?

Christine, they are indigo buntings. I noticed them a few years ago between Hartsburg and Claysville, seems they were a lot brighter blue then, it may change with the year/season.

That is correct. There were a lot of them last week just east of Defiance.

We saw well over 100 of them last week, the whole length of the trail.
