So on a whim i decided i need to take better care of myself get serious about an exercise program this year. I hate running; I won't run. So on a whim i bought a nice entry level name brand mtb and a nice cyclometer. I rode four 6 mile legs the first week... and got hooked. That was two months ago, and i've continued setting goals, buying new gear, upgrading components on my bike and feel better than I have in many years. I wasn't obese, but I lost some 15# of winter flab.. and I'm trim and athletic once again. I've completed a couple 25mi rides - and felt like i had plenty more in me. After finding this web site and reading all the great stories, tips and feeling the community - i've set my sights on an end-to-end this fall. Everything i do now is training and preparation for that goal. So - i wanted to give a shout out to all the folks that participate here and share their experience for motivating me (and others) to give hope and guidance for those of us looking for a challenge . I'm all in. Thank you all very much.

So awesome! The KATY's the best and we feel so lucky to have been able to ride it more than once. Yesterday we rode with our niece and her husband on an overnight to a nearby state park. I think we can get them to envision themselves on the KATY someday....then the Mickelson, GAP-C&O, etc. Long live the rail-trail system, the small towns with friendly folks along the way, and the lucky riders who get travel by bike!
