I'm going to be on a tour along the Katy at the same week as the Department of Natural Resources Ride.

Although they ride East to West, I'll be coming from the West to East.

Will I run into an overwhelming group of bikers?

I have been on this ride and there will be around 300 riders, at most. However, I would not worry about them slowing you down significantly if you are coming from the opposite direction.

You will know when you meet them because you will see more than the normal occasional biker coming from the opposite direction but I wouldn't say it will be overwhelming.
