Live Blues from Huntsdale-ish on 6/23/2012 2:16:08 AM:
I am a beginning bike rider and spending time on the KT, but a lifetime music lover. Katfish Katy's in Huntsdale is a wonderful chance to see genuine live blues. There is a stage that literally hangs over the river. Katfish Katy's is right on the trail. The store has basic "stop stuff"; water, showers, flushing toilets, and the ice/soda/sunscreen/Bologna needs.
The live blues is an amazing event. It occurs every Sunday from 1-5pm from May through October. It is always free, and you can buy the 3 B's (burgers, brats, beer) at a reasonable price.
Some of the musicians weekly traverse a third of Missouri to attend this, and perform basically for free (or a cut of your tips). Some of the musicians are really good. Some of the musicians are really learning. Some of the musicians are teenagers, that will make your jaw drop to see them play.
Harmonica duet and duel? It happens often. Peach-face and gray-beard guitar players learning from each other? That happens weekly. Somebody new goes up on stage, and it's always different.
Plan to spend a few hours if you can. Every hour it is changing.
