My mom (71 yrs old) & I took off from Dutzow to McKittrick. . It was really hot (103 degrees), but not bad except for the 16.4 mi stretch between Treloar & McKittrick. There are no trailheads in this area, and not much shade after noon. The winery (Lost Creek) we planned to stop at in Gore is closed Tues & Weds, so there was no water/relief for quite a stretch. We stayed at Joeys B&B in McKittrick--very nice, & kitchen loaded with lots of food & drinks. Joey even took us to Hermann for dinner (2 mi away) & brought us back. Several places along the way were not open or no longer in business, so bring lots if water. Treloar is a good shady rest stop. It was a fun challenge, 25.8 mi ea way!
