Clinton to Machens the week of the 12th

Hi everyone...

Wanted to share a writeup I am doing on our first end-to-end ride on the Katy. A buddy and I rode Clinton to Machens Weds Oct 10th thru Sat Oct 13th. We took tons of pictures and I'm finally just getting around to writing up the experience on my blog.

Here's the link for day one...the other days will be posted soon! If you've never been on the trail, hope this gives a little taste; if you have and know how awesome it is, hope this will bring back some cool memories.

Jerry - do you mean that in spring you'll ride the full trail and then back? Or do you mean you'll ride in the opposite direction from what you've previously done?

My buddy and I are considering whether we want to ride Machens-to-Clinton in 2013 or repeat the same direction from this year, Clinton-to-Machens.

I want to ride the trail in 2013. What kind of bike did you use? I have a 29er MTB.

I have rode the KATY end to end several times on my 29er. Just switch to a smaller semi-slick tire, you wont need the heavy knobbies. I use 38-42c touring or cyclocross tires.

Good advise in my opinion on narrower tires without the nobs. I've ridden it across several times on 28s. I know several on here think those are too narrow, but they work great for me. I love extra tough/flat-resistant tires on the KATY because I hate changing flats!
